Within my body of work, I distinguish series consisting of more than three images, created in a unified style or captured in the same location, and therefore visually connected.
The sequence of images within each series is, of course, intentional. It is less about presenting one or two striking shots and more about telling a small, complete story through a carefully arranged progression of frames.

The overall concept for the layout of the parks, palace, and fountains belonged to the Tsar himself - his drawings and handwritten notes on official documents have been preserved.

In 1723, Peterhof was ceremonially inaugurated and very quickly gained recognition as one of the most beautiful palace-and-park ensembles in Europe.

Yet Peterhof’s history has not been an easy one. After the death of Peter the Great, it fell into neglect for several years, and only in 1730 did a new ten-year phase of construction begin.

The ensemble suffered greatly during the Second World War: Nazi troops cut down trees, built dugouts, pillboxes, and trenches in the parks, blew up and burned the Grand Palace, and removed statues and thousands of museum treasures to Germany.

After the war, through the immense efforts of sappers, followed by restorers and ordinary citizens of Leningrad, the parks and palaces were restored to their present appearance.

This photographic series is my attempt to “look into the soul” of Peterhof. Walking through its parks, observing the palaces, churches, and fountains still asleep, I could almost see horse-drawn carriages, ladies-in-waiting strolling along the paths, and the reserved foreign guests of the imperial court.
Эта серия фотографий – моя попытка «заглянуть в душу» Петергофа. Гуляя по его паркам, смотря на дворцы, церкви, еще спящие фонтаны, я почти видел запряженные лошадьми кареты, гуляющих фрейлин и чопорных иностранных гостей царского двора.

At the same time, in these images I wanted to portray Peterhof awakening from its winter slumber and harsh weather - shaking off memories of past hardships and turning its “face” toward the first warmth and sunlight.
В то же время, на этих фотографиях мне хотелось показать Петергоф пробуждающимся от зимних сна и непогоды, стряхивающим с себя воспоминания о пережитых невзгодах и подставляющим свое «лицо» первому теплу и солнцу.
